Teylin 2017

The Agreement among ASEAN countries which is tied in ASEAN Economic Community has two contradictive sides. In one side, it results in high competitiveness among countries in this regions, but on the other hand, it is a new chance for us to win ASEAN market. To do this, having high English Proficiency is a must. However, it does not mean that we ignore local culture & values. Through English, we can promote our local wisdom and values by active involvement in global interaction. This could be Indonesians’ strength to have a strategic position with its unique identity that is showed by good English Competence as well as a strong local character. One of the ways to achieve it is by strengthening our cultural and citizenship literacy. It implies that English learning should reflect our local culture & local wisdom, especially for children. This concern leads English Education Department of Muria Kudus University to hold the 2^nd International Conference on Teaching English to Young Learners in Indonesia (The 2^nd TEYLIN).
